On your motherfxcking radar for March… DJ Fabsabs our friend with his hear to the streets in Hong Kong, and Asia as a whole shares his first column with us of bands to watch! "Here are some of the artists I’ve been keeping an eye on to have an awesome year ahead. Names like TripleSix, Zack Calixtus, Streets of Rage, N.Y.P.D., Metic, Hope the Flowers, MAEL, Pora, Vanish, Cold Years, and Beat Friday!"
The undisputed #1 is damn Mortal Kombat perfection from DJ Muggs and Rome Streetz. Check the project, 'Death And The Magician'. Give this project steady bump, and if you doubt why I be all over it, check the lead single, 'Prayers Over Packages'. Rome Streetz comes hungry out the gate like he been starved in isolation. Shxt bangs from front to back, and there isn't much more either could pack into the track! Dank, dank, dank.
How many official Conway projects a calendar year/per year. Duder is truly a machine of the Skynet ilk. Like Damn Homie, no chill... bars on bars, steady flow. While I went to focus on the guest spots, which I thought were fresh, Ransom, Rome Streetz, Knowledge The Pirate, and Shots, the solo joints on here do not play the background. Conway on some steady inclining, effortless grimey shxt. A nasty gutta that keeps givin'? I jest. Get you some prime rib, ripped from bone 'ere.
The cream of the crop this go around was, without a doubt, the standout project from The Winners camp capo, Hus Kingpin, and the project, Portishus. The LP is surprisingly deep, clockin' at near 20 tracks of dopeness. It's cinematic noir rap through and through, and while it does reference Portishead as the title, it uses the trip hop band more so as a spearpoint of influence rather than an overtly repetitive one.
It also give me great pride to have a Canadian artist take the No. 1 spot! Dopecity vets, Checkmate and DJ Kemo do a King Kong squat on the Empire State building with none other than Golden State warrior, Ras Kass in the huddle! Knowin' competition breathing down his back Checkmate lets off a Fire dragon verse to make your domes look like Pentacost! Pump this shxt! Vancouver stand up!
